Abstract

The current trends in dental care education and dental services is going to be reshaped by the new scientific era. However, available health education systems both in under developed and developing countries, seems to lag far behind in this revolutionary era of scientific development.

In Pakistan, current trends in dental research and along-side, the existing curriculum are not sufficient to fulfill the requirements of dental students and dental professionals. Moreover it also fails to give any benefit to the patients who are the major stack-holder of this extended dental community. The current curriculum and its design, teaching and learning styles and technical facilities needs to be modified and moulded accordingly.

Further improvement and workup is needed to bring our dental education and research system at-par with the modern world. Training and research in medical jurisprudence, forensic odontology, and molecular study of oral malignancies are among those important fields where a lot of improvement is needed.
